Red Giants eye revenge against the Cops

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor will be out to settle the score when they face Police in their final Super League match of the season at MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya on Saturday.

Although the Red Giants have sealed the runners-up spot in the 14-team competition, they are eager to end it on a high.

Selangor want revenge after two defeats this season to the Cops. Tan Cheng Hoe's side lost 1-0 (Super League) and 2-1 (Malaysia Cup) to Police this year.

"Our record against Police is not so good this season. We won once and lost twice, so we need this win to restore our confidence," said Cheng Hoe.

"We expect a big crowd in the stadium as this is the last match of the season, and we don't want to disappoint our fans. We have to be fully focused on the match."

"Police may have replaced their coach, but their playing style remains the same. They will be a hard team to break tomorrow.

"Win or lose, we will still finish second in the league, but that does not mean we will take it easy.

"We always prepare to win matches, and it is the same against Police."

Selangor striker Ayron del Valle is in contention for the Golden Boot, and he will be targeting more goals in this match.

The Colombian has scored 23 goals, four more than Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) Bergson da Silva and Fernando Forestieri.

Cheng Hoe said his prized striker is focused on getting the job done tomorrow.

"Del Valle is working hard as usual in training. Of course, he would like to win the Golden Boot award," said the 55-year-old coach.

Selangor are second in the standings with 58 points, while Police are eighth with 37 goals.
