Fans turn up to support Malaysia but also watch superstar Son [NSTTV]

DOHA: Harimau Malaya may be down and out in Doha, but their loyal fans are still standing by them.

Though Malaysia have been eliminated from the Asian Cup by two straight losses, Malaysian fans turned up at the Al Janoub Stadium today to cheer them on against South Korea in their final Group E match.

Amid the afternoon heat (2:30pm local time), a Malaysian fan, Norazlan Shah, said he is excited to see South Korea captain Son Heung Min in action in person.

He believes that Harimau Malaya are capable of causing an upset.

"I think we'll be able to come back with something. We know we've lost but we're not going home empty-handed."

Meanwhile, Malaysian fans Mannan and his mother, Aziah, said since they are living in Doha, there's no excuse for them not to come and support their national team.

"I think it's going to be 5-0 (defeat for Malaysia) but we're excited to watch Malaysia play. I want to see Son in action," said Mannan.

Aziah said: "My husband couldn't be here because it's a working day. So I thought I'd make a day of it with my son."
