Striker Luqman makes memorable debut in Japan [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: National youth striker Luqman Hakim Shamsudin, made his debut on Japanese soil in the Levain Cup on Wednesday.

The striker, loaned from Belgian side KV Kortrijk, was introduced as a substitute by YSCC Yokohama in the 77th minute against Mito Hollyhock in a first round match.

It was a memorable debut as YSCC Yokohama, a J3 League side, recorded a 1-0 win through Koki Matsumura's goal in the 67th minute at Nippatsu Mitsuzawa Stadium.

The Kota Baru-born Luqman, a product of the National Football Development Programme (NFDP), first made headlines in when he was signed by Belgian First Division A side Kortrijk on a five-year contract in 2020.

Three years later, he was loaned out to Icelandic side Njardvik before moving to Yokohama.
