(MMA) Amir Khan calls out Ev Ting for 'Singapore v Malaysia' showdown

FORMER title challenger Ev Ting has been called out by Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) exponent Amir Khan after the latter defeated Czech Republic’s Jaroslav Jartim in Shanghai, last Saturday.

In his technical knockout (TKO) feat over Jartim, Amir has improved his record to 8-2, giving the Singaporean a five-bout winning streak.

The 22-year-old has publicly challenged Ev, who is a Malaysian based in Auckland, and also the current One Lightweight Champion for two years running Eduard Folayang, in search of his golden ticket to the One Lightweight title.

“I’m coming for the belt, give me Folayang or Ev Ting,” said Amir.

Amir now holds the the most knockouts and finishes in One history at seven and eight, respectively, while Ev is coming fresh off an emphatic TKO win over Nobutatsu Suzuki when he performed in front of his home crowd last month.

“Just got called out on One Championship: Shanghai, careful what you wish for, youngbuck,” said Ev Ting on his Facebook page.

“Since Eduard and Manny (Pacquiao) don’t want these hands, Amir Khan can get some.”

Ever since his defeat in the challenge for the Lightweight title back in April in Manila, Ev has been hankering to get back into the cage for another title duel, specifically an invitation for a rematch with Folayang, who beat Ev in a five-round bout by way of unanimous decision.

As it stands now, One is headed for Singapore in November which could mean the 28-year-old Ev could be seeing an in-cage rendezvous on Amir’s home turf.

“Eduard is the only fight that’s going to progress me. But if Amir wants to do a Singapore vs Malaysia, I will be more than happy to take his name in front of his home crowd.”

The next fight on the One Championship schedule will be Total Victory at the Jakarta Convention Center in Indonesia on September 16.
