KUALA LUMPUR: Muay Thai fighter Johan Ghazali Zulfikar doesn't believe in wasting time in the ring.
The teen with the lightning fists is only interested in fast knockouts.
So much so he doesn't want to give his next opponent, Vietnam's Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat even five minutes.
Johan or known as Jojo, boldly said he wants to win his next fight in less than 16 seconds in the ONE Championship.
The 18-year-old is scheduled to face five-time WMF Muay Thai champion Tran Duy just before the ONE 167: Stamp vs. Zamboanga fight at the Impact Arena, Bangkok, on June 7.
Johan said his mission in the upcoming fight is to maintain his undefeated record of 5-0 in ONE Championship.
At the same time, he aims to break his 16-second KO record, achieved in his win over Thailand's Padetsuk Fairtex in the ONE Friday Fights 6 in February last year.
"Of course, every time I step into the ring, my goal is to break that 16-second record. If I can do it in the upcoming fight within 15 seconds, it would be amazing and satisfying.
"To do that, I need to attack relentlessly as soon as the fight begins," Johan said in an interview with BH Sports online.
"Nguyen is experienced in ONE Championship and has fought big names besides having a good record.
"From what I've seen, his head kicks are very good, and his movements are very fast.
"So, these are among the things I need to be careful of, but I believe that with proper training and preparation, I can face him," said Johan.
It will be Johan's first fight after a long break to focus on his SPM exam, which ended earlier this month.
Johan's last fight was on Dec 8 last year, where he defeated the WBC champion from Mexico, Edgar Tabares, via knockout in 36 seconds in Bangkok.
In October last year, Johan made history by becoming the youngest MMA fighter to secure a US$100,000 (RM463,300) contract with ONE Championship.
With a winning record of 5-0, including four KOs last season, Johan was also named the Most Outstanding Young Star 2023 by ONE Championship.
