Co-owner Razlan reveals meaning behind RNF

RNF MotoGP Racing team co-owner Datuk Razlan Razali has finally revealed the meaning behind the rebranded team's name.

The Sepang Racing Team (SRT) will be known as RNF from next year.

However, he did not disclose what the acronym stood for when he confirmed the matter last week.

He, however, finally addressed the topic yesterday.

SRT, owned by Sepang International Circuit (SIC), will be taken over by Razlan and Johan Stigefelt next season.

The duo are currently team principal and racing director at SRT.

"RNF is a tribute to my family and children (Razali, Nadia, Farouk)," said Razlan.

"As we all know, when you work in MotoGP, you spend a lot of time on the road.

"It is a huge sacrifice to make as a father, so I thought this would be the right time to make a tribute to my children by using the (first) letters of their names for our team name next year."

SIC decided to relinquish control of the team following Petronas' decision to conclude their sponsorship at the end of the season.

Razlan said RNF's title sponsor will be announced next month.

RNF will continue as a Yamaha satellite team.

"We will be rebranded as RNF next year but will retain the same structure and people.

"Yamaha have announced that Andrea Dovizioso will ride for us next season, but the second rider will be decided later."

Petronas Sprinta Racing Moto3 rider Darryn Binder is among the favourites for the second seat at RNF next year.
