Three times a champ: Track cyclist Fatehah rides to third gold

NILAI: NATIONAL track cyclist Fatehah Mustapa clinched her third gold of the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games (KL2017) in style at the National Velodrome in Nilai today.

Fatehah broke her own national record en route to winning the women's 500m time trial in a time of 34.542 seconds. Fatehah's former record of 34.667s had been set at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.

The men's 1km time trial saw Fadhil Mohd Zonis upsetting Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom to win the gold in 1:01.889s. Shah settled for silver on 1:02.356s.

Eiman Firdaus Mohd Zamri, Irwandie Lakasek, Mohamad Nur Aiman Mohd Zariff and Muhamad Afiq Huznie Othman qualified in first place for the final round of the men's team pursuit after clocking 4:09.999s, which also bettered the national record of 4:14.359s which had been set at the Asian Cycling Championships in February.

Fatehah and Azizulhasni Awang will take to the track for the keirin events later today.
