Fate of two paracyclists expected to be known on Sunday

KUALA LUMPUR: National Sports Council (NSC) Director-General Datuk Ahmad Shapawi announced today that a decision on the participation of paracyclists Khairul Nizam Mohd Ali and Mohd Khairul Hazwan Wahab in the Asean Para Games will most probably only be known on Sunday.

He said they have yet to make a decision on the matter. “Give us some time to evaluate and observe their condition and situation before we make a decision.

“We still have a little bit of time until Sunday before the deadline to confirm participation for the games.”

Khairul Nizam and Mohd Khairul Hazwan were involved in an accident during training on Thursday morning and suffered head injuries.

The two paracyclists were given medical treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital on Thursday and were discharged this morning (Friday).

However two others, pilot Mohd Nor Rizuan Zainal and Syafiq Suhaimy sustained serious injuries and will not be able to take part in the Games.

The four paracyclists were sheduled to compete in the mass start event and time trial at the Asean Para Games which is only eight days away.
