In Group B, Armed Forces edged Johor 1-0 courtesy of Juliani Mohamad Din’s goal from a penalty corner in the 28th minute.

“I think it was a balanced game and we were lucky to take our chance from a penalty corner. We were also lucky to have escaped as Johor came close to scoring on several occasions,” said Armed Forces coach Azizan Mustafa.

For the record, Armed Forces lost 4-0 to Pahang in the final of the inaugural edition last year.

Johor coach, Lailin Abu Hassan said: “My young team need to learn from mistakes. We had chances but we failed to convert them.”
