Siti Safiyah has got her priorities

KUALA LUMPUR: Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman is working on her consistency and accuracy ahead of priority events this year.

Many expected the bowler to make a good start to the season at the AIK International Tournament and the Brunswick Ballmaster Open in Europe, but she did not make the podium in both events.

However, Siti Safiyah is not worried as her priority events this year are the US Women’s Open and the Indonesia Asian Games.

Siti Safiyah, who finished 2017 as Asia’s No 1 bowler, said: “I did not perform badly in Europe.”

“I probably did not make the right ball changes when it mattered in both tournaments.

“At the moment, we are working hard in training to improve our consistency and accuracy,” said Siti Safiyah.

On her targets this year Siti Safiyah said: "It is still in discussion, but a few of us have been invited to play in the US Women's Open (on June 23-30) in Florida. I am looking forward to that.”

"The Asian Games in August will be the national squad's biggest assignment this year.

"I always aim to be on top. It doesn't matter which tournament I'm playing in,” she added.

Siti Safiyah memorable achievements in 2017 were winning the Wichita Open and the women’s team gold medal for Malaysia at the World Championships in Las Vegas.

The national team’s next assignment is the Brunswick Euro Challenge on March 10-18.
