In Farah we trust

KUALA LUMPUR: National women’s hockey goalkeeper Farah Ayuni Yahya is slowly becoming a household name in Asia.

The policewoman was instrumental in Malaysia’s fourth place finish at the Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) , which ended on Sunday, in Donghae, South Korea.

Farah was named the best goalkeeper in the tournament.

Coach K.Dharmaraj hopes Farah will be at her best for the Jakarta Asian Games in August.

The Asian Games will involve Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, China, India, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Kazahkstan. The teams will be pooled in two groups.

The mission in Jakarta is to win a bronze, a feat last achieved at the 1982 New Delhi Games.

"Farah has always been an asset for Malaysia in any tournament as she is fearless,” said K. Dharmaraj.

“We hope she will continue her fine form in the Asian Games.

“The Malaysian Hockey Confederation have set us a bronze target in Jakarta, and I believe my players are up for it.

“We have a fighting chance, and we will fight for the medal.”
