NSI disappointed with former national shooters latest move

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Sports Institute (NSI) have expressed disappointment over the actions of national shooters Muslifah Zulkifli, Nur Ayuni Farhana Abdul Halim and Nur Suryani Taibi who want to file an appeal with the Court of Appeals with regards to their suit against NSI after being dropped from the Podium Programme last year.

In a statement issued earlier today, NSI stated that the athletes involved want to press on with their legal action by announcing that they will file an appeal with the Court of Appeals.

“This matter is already a court case. NSI will not be issuing any statements regarding this case so as not to disrupt the legal process.

"NSI is disappointed with the athletes involved because of their intent in going ahead with filing an appeal and choosing to hold a press conference on this case which by right should be heard and deliberated in court.”

The three former nation shooters took their case to the Sessions Court and High Court since October last year before the Kuala Lumpur High Court decided to dismiss the case on July 6.

Through legal representatives Ahsa Advocates & Solicitors, the trio of former national shooters claim that NSI used the NSI Section 44 Act where no action, be it legal, prosecuting or proceedings can be taken or brought towards the Institute, its affiliates, committees or any officials, staff or agents who act on behalf of the institute.

The trio claims that NSI are seemingly protected and invincible with the Section 44 Act when their case was struck off by the court where they claim they were not given the opportunity to defend themselves or the case that they have brought forth.

As such, the shooters are hoping that they will be able to meet with Sports Minister, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman so that he may be able to hear their grouses as to why they sought to take legal action over the matter.

For the record, all three athletes are said to have been dropped from the Podium Programme without proper, valid reasons until Nur Ayuni and Muslifah were dropped altogether from the national shooting squad for the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games last year.
