'Debt prevention' ECP to be held in stages

THE Economic Control Programme (ECP), whose main goal is to help M-League teams avoid falling into debts, will be held in stages next season before full implementation in 2021.

This was decided by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) in their 17th board of directors meeting yesterday.

The 24 teams in the M-League will be “educated” to have a better understanding of the ECP.

“Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Kelantan, PJ City and Johor Darul Ta’zim have met with the MFL in regard to the ECP,” said MFL in a statement. “

The MFL said a seminar (organised by ECP consultants, PricewaterhouseCoopers Risk Services Sdn Bhd, LaLiga and MFL) will be held for the teams (next month).

Meanwhile, at the MFL meeting, chaired by FAM president Datuk Hamidin Amin, it was decided there will be no transfer limit on players between a parent club and their reserve team.

“MFL board of directors have decided there will be no player transaction limit outside of the transfer window between the parent club and reserve team where previously it was limited to five transactions.”

The MFL also announced that the import quota for Premier League teams are three (open) and one from Asia/Asean.

The MFL also decided that only those with a B coaching licence and above are qualified to register and hold positions in M-League teams.

“For the team registration of physiotherapist, FAM have made it mandatory for those interested to be registered with the Malaysia Physiotherapy Association, following which they are qualified to register with a team.”
