KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Zii Jia gave the local fans much to cheer when he upstaged Antonsen of Denmark 14-21, 21-15, 21-8 in the Malaysia Masters first round at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil today.
The Sea Games champion delighted the spectators with his fancy backhand against World No 4 Antonsen.
Though Zii Jia lost the first set to Antonsen, the 2019 World Championships runner-up, he managed to stay composed.
Zii Jia will play India’s Sameer Verma tomorrow for a place in the quarter-finals.
