SSTMI outclass BJSS to retain MJHL Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: SSTMI Thunderbolts redeemed themselves by beating BJSS Thunderbolts 4-1 to claim the Malaysia Junior Hockey League (MJHL) Cup at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil today.

Defending champions SSTMI had lost 3-0 to BJSS in the league.

However, SSTMI proved to be a different beast as they turned on the afterburner in the MJHL Cup final after going a goal behind.

BJSS took the lead through skipper Wan Muhammad Najmie Ahmad Dzaib's field goal in the fourth minute.

It turned out to be a wake-up call for SSTMI.

SSTMI skipper Saiful Sharil Saiful Bahri bagged a quick brace via penalty corners in the seventh and 10th minutes to hand the league runners-up the lead

Muhammad Muhibuddin Moharam (36th minute) and Syaman Mat Tee (37th) scored the other goals for SSTMI.

Saiful Sharil credited the win to fighting spirit and teamwork.

"We are so happy to retain the title. It was not an easy match as we had lost to BJSS in the league," said a jubilant Saiful Sharil today.

"Everyone fought hard in the final."

In the third-fourth playoff, AHP-SSP-MSP Thunderbolts edged SMKDBL-PHJ-MSNJ 2-1.
