Are the men in green coming?

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakistan will compete in the Azlan Shah Cup amid reports that the men in green have been directed not to participate.

Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) deputy president Datuk S. Shamala quashed the talks, saying the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) are also helping to make sure Pakistan attend the Malaysian event.

The tournament will be held on Nov 1-10 at the Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh, and the other invited teams are Canada, South Africa, Japan and South Korea.

"Yes, I have read reports saying Pakistan will not be competing, but I can assure all this is not true. AHF CEO Datuk Tayyab Ikram has confirmed that he spoke to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and they have given their commitment," said Shamala.

According to the reports, the Pakistan Sports Board have directed the PHF not to participate in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.
