KUALA LUMPUR: Skipper Nurul Iman Damia scored a brace to steer National Hockey Development Programme (NHDP) East to a convincing 4-1 win over NHDP North in a Mirnawan Cup Group B match at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil today.
Nurul was on target in the 20th and 28th minutes. Che Nur Auni Balqisya and Nur Raihanna added the other goals in the 39th and 42nd minutes.
Farazh Nur Erysha replied for NHDP North in the 46th minute.
NHDP East coach Sabri Mohamad praised his players for the convincing win.
"We only trained for a week going into the tournament.
"However, my players combined well to beat NHDP North, who have quality players from Penang and Negri Sembilan.
"We have to work on our penalty corner conversions before the semi-finals as we converted only one of four attempts."
In Group A, India Sports Odisha outplayed NHDP Central 5-0.
Nirmala Senbar scored a brace (32nd and 59th) for Sports Odisha, while Janhabi Bada (23rd), Liona Lakra (34th) and Payal Sonkar (49th) delivered the other goals.
