KUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) defeated India's Sports Odisha 3-0 in a Mirnawan Cup match at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil today.
Ammar Qusyairi (26th minute) and Azimuddin Syakir (30th, 37th) scored for SSTMI.
However, Bukit Jalil SS (BJSS) were beaten 4-2 by Japan in another match.
SSTMI and BJSS are without several regulars with the former missing six. BJSS are without seven core players.
"Six of my players are in Perth for the Gryphon Cup.
"However, the others displayed a winning mentality to beat Odisha," said SSTMI coach Wan Roslan today.
Sabah Sports School also released six players for the Gryphon Cup,
Playing under the Malaysia Sports School (MSS) banner in Perth, they won all eight matches to reach the Gryphon Cup final.
However, MSS lost 3-1 in the shootout after a 1-1 draw in regulation time against Ciriello Coaching Academy (CCA)
In the round robin, MSS defeated CCA 2-1.
