SSTMI stamp mark with second Mirnawan Cup win

KUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) hammered Perak MSS 5-1 for their second win in Group A of the boys' Under-17 Mirnawan Cup at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil today.

SSTMI defeated India's Odisha Sports 3-0 on Sunday.

In a girls' Under-14 Group A match, Odisha Sports hammered National Hockey Development Programme (NHDP) South 8-0.

The other foreign teams in the competition are Singapore and Japan.

"The foreign teams only had to buy flight tickets to play here. The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) are covering their accomodation, food and internal transportation," said MHC deputy president Datuk S. Shamala.

Boys' Group A: MSS Perak 1 SSTMI 5, Sports Odisha 3 Sabah SS 0; Group B: Singapore 0 BJSS 7, Japan 5 NHDP Tigers 0.

Girls' Group A: SSTMI 4 NHDP Central 1; Group B: Sports Odisha 8 NHDP South 0, NHDP North 10 Singapore 0.
