Sai Hung's title hopes dashed in Brisbane

KUALA LUMPUR: Ong Sai Hung's hopes of nailing his maiden PSA Tour squash title were dashed in the final of the Queensland Open today.

The third seed, who turned professional six years ago, lost 12-10, 11-6, 11-4 to second seed Rhys Dowling of Australia at the Daisy Hill Squash and Racquet Club in Brisbane.

Despite the defeat, Sai Hung, guided by coach Shahril Sahidan, is happy with his campaign in the tournament.

"I fought hard since the opening day of the tournament, but unfortunately, I could not nail my first PSA Tour crown.

"I simply need to train harder and improve my match intensity to achieve my dream," said world No. 142 Sai Hung, who is on the reserve list for the Malaysia Open,

"I need one player to withdraw for me to get into the main draw of the Malaysia Open.

In the women's final, Australia's Jess Turnbull defeated Hoe Mingyeong Hoe 8-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-0 to win the title.
