Wall-basher Eain Yow aims to break into world's top 10

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian squash players will be included in the Road to Gold (RTG) Programme if any of them breaks into the world's top 10.

For the first time, squash will feature in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.

National No. 1 Ng Eain Yow, who is currently ranked world No. 20, said realistically it would take him at least a year before he can break into the top 10.

"I also need to play 16 to 17 PSA tournaments next year to reach top 10 in the world to be in the RTG programme.

"It's every player's dream to feature in the Olympics," said the 25-year-old Eain Yow, whose highest world ranking was 17th.

Eain Yow has been based in Bristol, England, since 2019 where he trains under coach Hadrian stiff.

He won the Asian crown in Hong Kong in June and Hangzhou Asian Games individual gold last month.

He also reached the second round of the World Championships in the United States in May, third round of the El Gouna Open in Cairo in June and finished second in the QSF No. 3 tournament in Qatar last month.

Eain Yow's next tournament is the Malaysia Cup in Seremban next week where he is seeded fourth.
