KUALA LUMPUR: A Taiwanese man has divorced his wife on the grounds that she bathes only once a year, thus subjecting him to a form of "psychological torture".
According to a report in Shanghaiist, the wife's habit of taking a bath only once a year was preventing them from having sex and starting a family.
The situation wasn't bad when they were dating, as she would bathe once a week, he claimed.
However, after they got married, things got worse. A decade later, the wife stopped bathing weekly, and would only take a shower once a year.
He alleged that his wife's annual bathing routine would take six hours.
He also claimed that she discouraged him from holding a job, as she wanted him to stay at home and help take care of her sick father. Because neither of them worked, the couple was reliant on her mother for money.
However, in 2015, the husband finally decided to move out of the house. He found a job in Hsinchu in northern Taiwan, but kept it a secret from his wife.
When the wife discovered that he was working in another city a month later, she demanded that he quit and come back home.
Following the wife's demands, the husband started divorce proceedings.
The wife, however, has denied her husband's allegations.
The court, noting that the couple had already been separated for two years, granted the divorce. – SAYS.com
