Hong Kong star Yammie Lam found dead in flat; body decomposed

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran Hong Kong television and film star Yammie Lam Kit-ying was found dead in her apartment in Stanley, Hong Kong on Saturday.

Lam, 55, had apparently been dead for some time as her body had begun to decompose, the South China Morning Post reported, quoting a senior police source.

Her remains were discovered after Lam’s friend, surnamed Lui, visited her apartment on Friday night and noticed a foul smell. When no one answered the door, Lui contacted the police at 12.28am.

Police found Lam in the toilet of the flat in Ma Hang Estate, where she lived alone.

According to the South China Morning Post, no foul play is suspected, no wounds were discernible on the body and no drugs were found on the premises.

Famed for her beauty and talent, Lam began her career on Hong Kong’s TVB channel in the 1980s, and skyrocketed to fame with roles in hit TV series such as Looking Back in Anger and the big-screen 1995 blockbuster A Chinese Odyssey.
