Latest social media craze has women gluing lips up toward nose for plump pout

IN RECENT years, the demand for lip fillers has skyrocketed, as women rush to emulate the plump pouts of reality stars like Kylie Jenner.

But now, social media users have apparently found a cheaper – and far more bizarre – alternative to creating the appearance of fuller-looking lips.

Several people on the TikTok app have shared clips of themselves using eyelash glue to stick the top of the top lip to the cupid's bow, making it appear larger.

The startling craze seemingly started after user 'gnarlysinner', received over 81,000 likes for a clip of her DIY beauty hack.

The viral craze has received a stream of attention as an increasing number of people attempt it for themselves, including user Chloe Hammock, who went viral.

However, not everyone has been impressed. Many people have mocked the idea of using glue for fuller lips as unpractical.

One person wrote: “This is so...sad. The way I used to hate my lips, but now people glue their skin together for it. Imagine her lips falling off mid-sentence”

Another said: “It might look ok-ish from the front but imagine how weird and folded this looks from the side” (sic).

A third added: “The glue is only good until you start talking or take a drink”.

One person said: “This is so crazy, I literally look in the mirror sometimes and pull my lips up to see what they would look like fuller and this? Does it work? Probably for the moment... really cool”.

Another wrote: “This lip glue thing is... very fascinating to me”.

The latest fad came as doctors reported an increase in “botched” lip fillers, with young women falling victim to unregistered practitioners in a bid to save money.

Speaking to FEMAIL previously, London-based Dr Esho revealed he is inundated with patients who need help after having fillers administered by unqualified practitioners.

He warned such procedures can lead to infections, tissue dying and even disfigurement. – DAILY MAIL
