Singapore Covid-19 cases hit 34,884

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) on Sunday confirmed an additional 518 cases of Covid-19 infection in the republic, the vast majority of whom are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

This brings the overall tally to 34,884 infections.

Of the 518 cases reported on Sunday, 516 are foreign workers staying in dormitories.

The other two are currently unlinked cases. One is a 73-year-old Singaporean woman and the other an 18-year-old male permanent resident.

There are no new imported cases.

The MOH said that overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of six cases per day in the week before, to an average of four per day in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has remained stable at an average of two per day in the past two weeks.

The MOH said 972 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

In all, 21,699 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged.

There are 321 patients who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and eight are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

A total of 12,841 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.

A total of 23 have died from complications due to the infection. – Today Online
