Travellers entering through Johor checkpoints must submit application for home quarantine

KUALA LUMPUR: Travellers entering Malaysia through Johor checkpoints are required to send in their application to be quarantined at home at least seven days in advance.

The application can be made through cprcjknj@moh.gov.my.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said that travellers would need to take a Covid-19 RT-PCR test at least three days before departure.

He said a risk asssessment would be done to determine whether the candidate was suitable to be quarantined at home or otherwise.

Dr Noor Hisham said their application would be considered if they fulfil the outlined conditions.

The conditions are that they are citizens or non-citizens who have homes in Malaysia including those who are permanent residents, are under the Malaysia My Second Home programme and have work permits.

"They must also test negative in the Covid-19 RT-PCR test and have been completely vaccinated."

Dr Noor Hisham said travellers who did not fulfil these conditions would have to undergo their quarantine in a gazetted facility. They would also have to bear the expenses for their stay.

He also said that all travellers have to undergo another Covid-19 RT-PCR test upon arrival.

"For those with light symptoms, they have to take an RTK-Antigen test and if they test positive, the buffer solution would be sent to the lab for a PCR test."

He said from here such travellers were allowed to undergo home quarantine and further action would depend on the test results.

Dr Noor Hisham, however, said travellers who were moderately or severely symptomatic would be referred to an infectious diseases specialist.

"Further action will be taken based on the evaluation and decision of the expert.

"The quarantine period for all travellers around the world is 14 days but the period may be extended by seven days (21 days in total) based on risk assessments done on the 14th day.

"Quarantine would be done at home or the quarantine facility where they were initially quarantined."
