Three teens to face charges in Singaporean boy abduction case

JOHOR BARU: Three teenagers allegedly involved in the Dec 12 Singaporean boy abduction case will be charged at the magistrate court here tomorrow.

On Dec 12, a closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording captured a seven-year-old Singaporean boy playing along the pathway in front of a shop-lot at Jalan Serampang in Taman Pelangi, who was then forced into a car.

The teens aged 15, 17, and 18, were arrested on Dec 20 in Pontian.

A 41-year-old mechanic who had allegedly masterminded the abduction was arrested within 24 hours of the incident.

He was charged at the Johor Baru Magistrates' Court on Dec 19 under Section 363 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment-term of seven years and a fine upon conviction.

The court proceedings are on-going.
