TNB signs LSS Photovoltaic PPA with Halpro

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has signed the Large-Scale Solar (LSS) Photovoltaic Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Halpro Engineering Sdn Bhd, a special-purpose company set up by Majulia Sdn Bhd and Greencells GMBH.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, TNB said Majulia and Greencells were the successful bidders for the LSS competitive bidding exercise, organised by Suruhanjaya Tenaga in the first quarter of 2017 to develop, among others, the transmission-connected LSS projects.

TNB said Halpro Engineering would design, construct, own, operate and maintain a solar photovoltaic energy generating facility of 30MWac to be located in Mukim Bebar, Pekan, Pahang.

“The PPA, which has an expected commercial operation date of Dec 30, 2019, governs the obligations of the parties to sell and purchase the energy generated by the facility for a period of 21 years from the commercial operation date in accordance with the agreed terms and conditions,” it said.

It said that the PPA would not have any effect on the issued share capital and the substantial shareholders’ shareholdings of TNB and would have a neutral impact on the earnings of TNB over the term of the PPA.
