Spectacular LaFerrari Aperta unveiled

KUALA LUMPUR: Naza Italia Sdn Bhd, the sole official importer and distributor of Ferrari in Malaysia, celebrated Ferrari’s 70th Anniversary with a series of events in Penang recently.

Ferrari Malaysia kick-started events with the unveiling of the spectacular limited edition LaFerrari Aperta — the special series model launched to mark the Ferrari’s 70th Anniversary, in a press conference held at Slate @ The Row, on Thursday.

Only 209 units of the LaFerrari Aperta supercar will be manufactured. In order to qualify to be handpicked by Ferrari, the potential buyer must own at least six Ferraris, all under their name.

The LaFerrari Aperta is a hybrid supercar that is powered by a 6.3 litre V12 engine that is coupled to a hybrid kinetic energy recovery system from an electric motor.

In total, the combined mill produces 950hp and more than 900Nm of torque. The supercar can reach a top speed of 350kph and completes the century sprint in less than three seconds.

It comes with a price tag of RM6.8 million, excluding duties and options.

“We are truly honoured to be part of Ferrari’s global celebrations and it gives us great pleasure to be able to pay tribute to Cavallino Rampante’s history with some of the most devoted Ferrari owners in the nation,” said Naza World Group executive chairman Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin at the official announcement of the celebration.

The weekend’s itinerary kicked off with a rally of Ferraris from Kuala Lumpur to Penang’s UNESCO site. It is one of the largest of its kind held locally, with more than 70 Ferraristi taking part.

To end the day with a bang, Ferrari Malaysia hosted a gala dinner at one of George Town’s great historical sites, Fort Cornwallis. The exclusive venue made a perfect location to mark the occasion.

This celebration is part of Ferrari’s 70 events happening in 60 countries across the world. The anniversary celebrations will culminate at Maranello on the weekend of Sept 9 and 10.
