#TECH: Grab's measures to help delivery partners

KUALA LUMPUR: With the extension of the Movement Control Order (MCO), it is even more imperative for logistic services such as Grab to look out for its network of delivery partners as they continue to serve the customers.

The company has launched a ‘Partner Protection Fund’ up to RM1,000 per driver or/and its delivery-partner. This protection fund is to help partners who are either tested positive or are required by Ministry of Health to self-quarantine.

“To our partners, we just want you to know that you are in our hearts and minds. Every day, you are not just placing your trust in our platform to earn a living but in a family of people who are part of your community. So during these trying times, we are taking these small steps towards supporting you better,” said Grab Malaysia’s country head, Sean Goh.

The delivery and transport provider also announced a ‘Partner Relief Fund’ of up to RM300 per driver or/and its delivery-partner. Through this fund, Grab will be distributing active partners with vouchers to help with daily household expenses. These vouchers can be used on most Grab services, whether to reload mobile, or to purchase essential food and grocery items at up to 50 per cent discount for their families during this period.

In order to keep it safe for everyone, Grab is providing its partners with free masks via GrabBenefits.

“We have been working with our partners to make two practices mandatory—hand sanitising at the stores, and fully sealed packaging to prevent contamination and spillage,” added Goh.

Amidst the deluge of rumours on communication application WhatsApp, Grab partners with the Government of Malaysia to provide the Grab community with immediate access to the most accurate and timely information relating to Covid-19. For latest news on the outbreak, check the Grab app.

At this moment where contact can be considered as dangerous, Grab has been deploying full “contactless” deliveries to minimise the risks of physical contact, not just for the public, but for partners too.

“In addition, all of our Food, Mart or Pasar deliveries are 100 per cent cashless with GrabPay,” said Goh adding that Grab also introduced a Covid-19 cover available for Grab customers when they opt into the Ride Cover for only RM0.35 per ride. More details are available under Insurance tile on the Grab app.

“Finally, we would like to share our deep thanks to the many drivers and delivery-partners out there who are soldiering on to put food not just on our tables, but also on their families’, as well as our nation’s healthcare workers. Please stay safe and healthy,” said Goh.
