#TECH: Adobe adds "Sensei" power to Creative Cloud

ADOBE has announced a number of updates to its Creative Cloud platform to give users more creative power and ability in their work.

This time the creative solution company emphasises more on the usage of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning via the Adobe Sensei technology, throughout its product range.

According to the company, the new upgrades will support the creative explosion, including new ways for creative people to connect and learn, to collaborate, and to produce whatever they can imagine more quickly and easily.

Time for AI

Adobe previews some new features powered by Adobe Sensei that are coming to Premiere Pro, After Effects and Premiere Rush.

For example, the Scene Edit Detection in Premiere Pro will leverage Adobe Sensei to analyse exported or archived video files and identify edits with pinpoint accuracy.

The company said unlike existing histogram-based solutions, the new technology in Premiere Pro was built with machine learning. This will help users save time by delivering consistently reliable results.

Besides that, Scene Edit Detection will also automatically add cuts or markers at each edit point, turning rendered files into editable timelines and enabling per-clip adjustments, such as colour correction or reframing.

In its effort to make it easy for users in generate more accurate mattes when separating foreground and background elements in video sequences, Adobe introduced Roto Brush 2 in After Effects.

This feature makes rotoscoping a practical option for more users.

Roto Brush 2 uses Adobe Sensei machine learning algorithms to generate this accurate mattes.

There is also Auto Reframe in Premiere Rush which will intelligently identify the actions in users video and keep the most important part of their shot in the frame when switching between different aspect ratios. Also powered by Adobe Sensei, the Auto Reframe will enable users to reformat content for social media channels no matter what device they are working on, including their phone.

Stock audio

As music becomes more relevant in video content nowadays, Adobe has decided to introduce Adobe Stock audio, a new integration that makes it easier and more efficient to find the right soundtrack for video works.

The company said Adobe Stock audio aggregates thousands of music cues from top stock providers like Epidemic Sound and Jamendo. The integration with Premiere Pro provides the only offering in the market that allows users to search, preview, and license audio tracks within the editorial workflow.

Work anywhere

In its latest release of Illustrator, Adobe introduces Cloud documents and other improvements that let users to work from basically anywhere.

Among the new features include automatic saving and document version tracking, which make working in Illustrator simple and fast.

The benefits of Cloud documents extend beyond easily accessing your documents anywhere Illustrator is installed. It's now faster, regardless of the size of the users' files, and they'll save automatically and much faster than standard files on users' computer. Besides that, users can track, label, and revert to any version of their work directly within Illustrator.

Adobe also said that soon users will be able to share documents with others for editing or reviewing directly within the app. \

Illustrator will also be coming to the iPad soon, and the Cloud documents will automatically be available on the users' iPad, wherever they are.

Bigger canvas

Users who need the room to design to scale or keep all their assets organised in one project, they can now expand their canvas.

For example, when they start a new project in Document Setup, their canvas automatically expands in size when document dimensions are greater than 227 inches. At this time large canvas can only be enabled at document setup.

The latest release maximises users' computer's GPU to render their graphics live as they design.

AR experience

When Adobe released Aero at Adobe MAX last year, they put a cutting-edge authoring tool in the hands of anyone who wants to make and share an AR experience. Now, with the latest release of Aero, they are pushing the tool even further, adding new features to help you blur the lines between the physical and digital worlds.

Now Adobe has launched the next part of the AR journey: audio. This allows users to add spatial audio to their AR experiences to create truly immersive environments.

The spatial audio engine built into Aero will allow users to effectively design multi-sensory experiences, where sounds are triggered based on actions taken by the user. This makes it easy to design an accurate soundscape for any AR experience, tied to the layout of the digital objects in a room.. The level and frequency of these sounds can be also altered based on a viewer's actions and directional changes, for maximum realism.

Audio in Aero works via a simple import feature that allows users to bring .WAV and .MP3 files into the app.

However, if they don't have audio files of their own or just need something to get started, they can access over 120 sound effects right from the Play audio action panel in the Behavior builder tool.

Adobe Live

On Adobe Live, influential creatives explain new techniques and pose creative challenges. Views of those videos have more than doubled since the pandemic hit and in response, and Adobe said they are more than doubling the amount of content they produce and producing content with local artists in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

As creative person can provide inspiration, the company is making it possible for people to live stream how they paint or draw in Adobe Fresco. Many Fresco users can live stream now and we're making the feature fully available over the coming months. And in Lightroom, photographers can share their edited images in the Discover section of the app.

When users choose "Share Edits," Lightroom automatically saves both their original image and their finished piece and shows the edits they used to get there.

Behance search improvements

Giving inspiration to users in one of Adobe's current objectives. The company says a great source of inspiration for users is looking at projects that are similar to what they're working on.

In this case, Adobe offers Behance, where more than 21 million creatives share their work, we've made it easier to find what a user is looking for. Users can search for an image with a specific style or visual element or search for animated GIFs. Meanwhile, photographers can drill down to find shots with a certain exposure or focal length and even find pictures shot with a specific model of camera.

Users can also learn and get inspired within Creative Cloud, which includes thousands of tutorials and resources, like fonts, brushes, and shared assets. The improvements to the Creative Cloud desktop app make it easy to find and manage fonts, navigate all users Cloud Documents, and access assets shared with them through Creative Cloud Libraries.

Besides that, Adobe said it is also committed to supporting the creative community.

As the Covid-19 pandemic put many creative people out of work, Adobe has made Behance's very active job boards free for all to use.

Collaboration

Since the beginning of the pandemic, many people have been on a crash course in remote collaboration. For creative pros, that's just accentuated an existing trend. Creative work is more of a team effort than it has ever been and once a draft is done, the number of people who need to review and comment on the work has multiplied. Adobe's June release includes many ways we're making collaboration simpler and more efficient.

For many creative people, the cumbersome, inefficient process of circulating work for feedback is hugely frustrating. The new Share for Review feature in InDesign makes getting responses easy.

For example, a users can click one button and the colleagues he or she chooses can review your document. The feedback flows back through the app and he or she can review, reply to, and resolve questions, all within InDesign.

Photoshop enhancement

Adobe has also given Photoshop a new Select Subject Portrait, powered by Adobe Sensei, which makes it simple to a shot of a person, for example a girl with all her fun curls, against a different background. Now users just need to choose the person's image and get all the complexity of her hair or other details with just one click.

Besides that, Lightroom gets a Local Hue control, where users can make fine-grained changes to things like skin tones without affecting the colour of the entire image.

Photoshop Camera

To add fun to mobile photography, Adobe has come out with Photoshop Camera app.

With this app, users can apply the power of Sensei to transform an image from average to amazing, even at the time they take it.

The app offers a library of fun, creative, and beautiful filters.

Users will be able to see exactly how they'll change your picture before you even press the capture button.
