The multitalented Diana Danielle

Diana Danielle wants to be known as singer and actress with the release of her debut single ‘Tentang Kita’. BIBI NURSHUHADA RAMLI finds out more

AFTER having the opportunity to sing the theme songs for three movies, actress Diana Danielle is ready to chart a career in music.

“Actually, singing has always been my first passion, even before I started acting at the age of 9, but I never got around to pursuing it.

“With the release of my single, I hope it shows how serious I am,” she says.

The 25-year-old performed the theme songs for the 2010 musical Magika, horror comedy Hantu Gangster (2012) and horror Kami Histeria (2014).

Tentang Kita, composed by DJ Fuzz with lyrics by Alabbas and Muariffah, is a pop-reggae tune which features a catchy chorus.

“Since this is my first single, I figured a radio-friendly tune would appeal to music listeners,” says Diana.

The Texas-born lass, who recorded the song in March last year, has been taking vocal lessons from Shafizawati Shariff, who was the vocal coach in popular TV reality show Akademi Fantasia.

Diana’s actor-director husband Farid Kamil is supportive of her branching out.

“He said ‘Finally!’,” she says, laughing.

“He knows how long I’ve wanted to do this,” she said at the launch of her single at Neway Karaoke Center in 1 Utama, Petaling Jaya recently.

Despite her excitement, Diana, whose mother is Malaysian, still can’t help but feel worried about being accepted in the music industry.

“It’s just like when I first started acting and people doubted my capabilities. And over the years, I learnt the ropes and become better. The same applies to singing. I am taking baby steps and open to constructive criticism.

“I want to be known as Diana, the actress and singer.”
