Netizens furious with Super Junior Kangin over assault

RECENT reports on Kangin being accused of assaulting a woman have left K-Netizens so furious that they are flooding the South Korean actor/singer’s Instagram with hate comments.

Although Kangin was released with a warning, most Netizens weren’t as forgiving, since the idol had earlier announced he would be taking time off his career to reflect, following his driving-under-the-influence (DUI) offence in May last year.

Besides telling him to leave Super Junior, Netizens also wrote: “You still haven’t sobered up yet”, “He needs to quit alcohol”, “Please stop dirtying Super Junior’s name”, “People really do not change” and “There’s nothing to even be disappointed about anymore”, among others.

Kangin, 32, was reported on Friday to have hit a woman at a pub, with the police called in to investigate.

One of the policemen with knowledge of Kangin’s case later told the media: “It was not a bar, but a ‘room salon’ establishment (known to be fronts for prostitution rings).

“Early reports said that he was with his girlfriend, but that has not been ascertained yet. Kangin was also drunk, but he was not completely overtaken by alcohol.

“It looks like there was a minor fight between Kangin and the other person, but by the time we arrived they both had amicably settled the issue.

“Since the victim did not wish to press charges, the case has been dropped.”

At first, Kangin’s label, Label SJ, could not locate the artiste for an explanation, but it later released an official statement and an apology.

“Kangin became involved in an argument with a friend at a gathering, which turned into a misunderstanding,” it said.

“He has apologised to the individual involved, and the issue was resolved on the spot. We apologise again for creating a disturbance despite Kangin’s hiatus and time of reflection.”

Prior to this, Kangin was involved in two DUI cases, one in 2009 and another last year, as well as another assault case, also in the same year.
