KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Ummi Nazeera is happily married to Dr Izzar Anwari Abdul Khani, and has her mother-in-law to thank for bringing them together two years ago.
The Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa actress whose real name is Ummi Nazeera Nur Hidayah Zainulabadin recently revealed, via Instagram, the "happy moments" which led to her first meeting with Dr Izzar, and included a selfie she took with his mother, Datin Seri Nurah Abdul Rahman.
"My mother-in-law and I first met in a special event, and as soon as we started talking, she showed me photos of her family including Izzar," said Ummi in her Instagram post.
"She then told me 'I want to introduce my son to you, but he hasn't got back to me yet'."
Dr Izzar contacted his mother within the next few minutes, expressing an eagerness to know her "newfound friend". "Who's she, mum?" he replied.
"When my mother-in-law asked if I could give Izzar my contact number, I immediately said 'of course'. From then onwards, I knew that my Mr Right was on the way!"
Two days later, Dr Izzar met Ummi and said: "Thanks for being kind to my mother. She spoke highly of you. I am Izzar."
Ummi admitted that she was "on top of the world" when they met. "Everything about him was perfect, his manners, demeanour and looks. I had finally found my Mr Right!"
The 27-year-old actress and Dr Izzar, 30, were married in a private ceremony on July 23 last year. It was attended by more than 200 family members, and the guests of honour were Tengku Seri Panglima Raja Terengganu Tengku Baderulzaman Sultan Mahmud Shah and his wife Toh Puan Seri Wan Hidayah Wan Ismail.
