#Showbiz: Unfair to boycott drama because of Aliff — Ummi Nazeera

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Ummi Nazeera Zainul Abidin has urged viewers not to boycott her latest drama series on TV1 just because Aliff Aziz is in it.

"Each person is entitled to freedom of choice and it is not fair to pressure others to boycott a certain drama series. Please think of the well-being of the cast and crew first," said Ummi Nazeera who is co-starring with the Singaporean singer-actor in Dia Dari Syurga.

Ummi, 33, said in a Harian Metro report yesterday that so far, viewers had given a positive response to the 30-episode drama about family values.

"In fact, it is trending at number one on RTM Klik," she said.

Ummi also said that she got along great with Aliff on the set and he was very professional throughout filming in June last year.

"If the producers want to blacklist certain artistes, it is up to them and I would rather not comment on this," said Ummi who is best known for starring in the 2011 film Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa.

Dia Dari Syurga which also stars Fazlina Ahmad Daud and Nafiz Muaz has been screened at noon from Mondays to Thursdays since March 11.

On Saturday, Ummi uploaded an Instagram post about the drama series, and some netizens called for a boycott of it because Aliff was the main actor.

Aliff and Playboy Itu Suami Aku actress Ruhainies Zainul Ilyas were arrested for khalwat in her condominium in the federal capital on March 8.
