KUALA LUMPUR: Father of actress and TV host Elfira Loy, Ahmad Sabri Ariffin, has confirmed that he has returned her engagement ring to singer Sufian Suhaimi’s family yesterday.
With the return of the ring, the engagement between the two celebrities is now off.
In a news report by BH Online, Ahmad Sabri and his entourage of eight family members had met up with Sufian’s father and his uncle at Sufian’s family home in Muar, Johor yesterday at about 5.30pm.
“Our family had come to this decision as we believe that the two are not meant to be together. For whatever reason that we’ve come to this conclusion, it’s better for us to keep it within the family so as not to offend any parties,” he said.
Ahmad Sabri said initially, they had wanted to return the ring earlier this month before Elfira, 23, performed her umrah.
Meanwhile, Sufian, 25, has received messages from fellow artistes
advising him to be strong and to ignore harsh criticisms from Netizens following the break-up.
Through several Insta Story postings, he expressed his gratitude for them. They include Heliza Helmi, Aiman Tino, Sharnaaz Ahmad and Ernie Zakri who had sent him words of encouragement during this trying time.
“Terima kasih, @nurhelizahelmi. Semoga Allah memberkati kakja dan keluarga, diluaskan pintu rezeki seluas lautan, bahagia dan berjaya dunia akhirat. Amin,” he wrote.
Sufian and Elfira got engaged on Oct 6 last year and their wedding was suppose to take place next month.
