#Showbiz: No asking Awi about my 'past', pleads actress Atikah Suhaime

KUALA LUMPUR: Newly-engaged Singaporean actress Atikah Suhaime admits she has ‘put the past behind her’, but she has one small request to the media and netizens.

They are not to ask her singer-songwriter fiance Awi Rafael about her alleged appearance in some steamy photos with actor Idris Khan two years ago.

Doing so, Atikah pleaded, would be disrespectful to her fellow Singaporean Awi.

"Ever since we met, and more so after we got engaged, we never talked about this issue and hope that bygones will be bygones," said the 27-year-old after a fashion show organised by fashion hub PrimaValet at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur recently.

Atikah, who got engaged to Awi, 31, on March 17 after a five-month relationship, also said she felt “a lot calmer and happier” following her engagement.

She credited Awi’s kind and caring nature for giving her the strength to overcome the controversy.

“I felt lost, but he came along and helped me get me on the right track again,” she said, adding that she would soon appear in an Indonesian film, Antologi Rasa.

Atikah and Awi, who have known each other for six years, are set to tie the knot in March next year.

The Pencuri Hati Mr Cinderella actress announced that she had planned to “take a break” from acting last year, and work as a marketing executive in the island republic.

Atikah also said she would continue to appear in Singaporean television series and entertainment programmes.

The actress' decision was largely prompted by the photos on social media which some Netizens claimed were of her and Idris.

Atikah strongly denied that she had appeared in the photos, as well as a “steamy video” which allegedly featured Idris and another actor, Ammar Alfian.
