#Showbiz: K-Pop duo MXM thrills fans at KL fan meet

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite being relatively new in the K-Pop industry, MXM knew how to keep their fans entertained and wanting more.

This was proven at the South Korean duo’s Match Up Fan Meeting In Kuala Lumpur tonight where they showcased not only their boyish charm but also their funny side.

The two-hour show held at HGH Convention Centre in Sentul here saw the duo Im Young-min and Kim Dong-hyun playing several fun games with the 1,600-strong crowd.

Some of them included Guess The Drawing and How Much Do You Know About MXM?

There was also a Q&A session where Kim and Im answered some of fans’ questions and even fulfilled the latter’s requests, such as to act all cute and perform a sexy dance.

The event emcee Hani Fadzil even taught them to say some Malay words and slangs such as “Saya sayang awak!” (I love you!)” and “Lek lu! (Chill first!)”.

Kim and Im were sporting enough to follow, complete with the right intonation, much to the fans' amusement.

To show their appreciation for Malaysia, they also learned to sing along local folk song Rasa Sayang with their fans.

The fan meeting would not be complete without song performances. The duo thrilled fans with energetic and cool performances of their popular pop and R&B tracks including I’m The One, Diamond Girl, Just Come Out, Gone Cold, Errday and I Just Do.

Some lucky fans won the chance to take polaroid photos with the boys, give them a high five on stage and take home signed merchandise.

“Even though there is such a distance between Malaysia and South Korea, we will always feel connected to you,” Kim said to the screaming fans.

“Without you, we won’t be here today, so we promise to work hard and repay your love and support,” Im added.

Currently signed under Brand New Music, MXM officially debuted in September last year with its EP Unmix. It was followed by the release of their second EP Match Up last January.

But before all of this, Kim and Im already started gaining recognition from their appearance as contestants of the reality singing competition Produce 101 Season 2 last year.

However, they didn’t make it to the Top 11 who went on to form the temporary project group Wanna One.

MXM Match Up Fan Meeting In Kuala Lumpur was jointly organised by IME Malaysia and Warner Music Malaysia.
