#Showbiz: Rocker Akim offers wife romantic praise for her DIY Raya threads

KUALA LUMPUR: While most people would buy ready to wear attire or get the tailor to sew together an elaborate garb for Raya, the wife of popular rock singer Akim Ahmad chose to put a DIY touch on the traditional baju Raya ensemble.

In a recent Instagram post, the Akim & The Majistret frontman praised his wife and fellow singer, Stacy, for her effort to make this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri an even more memorable one.

He explained that this was Stacy’s first attempt at sewing together a set of matching Raya clothing for the whole family.

“Selamat hari raya everyone, these are the clothes that were sewn together by my beloved wife, a task that she completed successfully,” he wrote.

Akim added that Stacy had worked hard at sewing the pieces together and that she had never made a baju kurung and baju Melayu before this.

The singer of hit tunes like Potret and Mewangi did add that although the clothes were not entirely perfect, that was exactly what made the memory of it so much sweeter and unique.

“The imperfections are why I accepted you as my wife. Your perseverance and diligence is what made me choose you as a wife. It’s not perfect-looking clothes that I want. What I truly want is you and our little family,” he wrote.

Akim ended the post with: “I pray that God will always pour blessings upon you, my dear wife.”

Netizens commented positively on the post, which had garnered close to 36,000 likes, with many praising Stacy’s hard work and determination to put together the matching garments. Some even commented that the singer had a talent and should be further developed.

Akim, 27, married Ummu Shaikhah Stacy Anam, 28, in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in 2016 and the two have a couple of young daughters.
