#Showbiz: Maturity and responsibility, not age, makes happy marriage - Rita Rudaini

KUALA LUMPUR: There is nothing wrong for women to wed younger men, for what counts is their maturity and responsibility.

Actress Rita Rudaini, 42, has this advice for female fans and fellow actresses who feel that marriages to younger men do not last.

Rita, whose ex-husband footballer Aidil Zafuan Razak is 11 years her junior, said younger men could be mature and responsible, possessing qualities which made them good husbands and fathers.

“Good husbands understand their roles as leaders of their families well, and they marry out of true love, not due to family pressure nor to keep up with their friends."

She added that older men could also lack maturity, just as younger men could be mature beyond their years.

Rita, a mother of two sons, said it was unfair for society to cast doubt on men who marry older women.

“It’s not right to say that marriages to younger men don’t last. It all depends on the individuals.

“Happy marriages are based on trust, love and responsibility.

"Age is not a barrier.”
