#Showbiz: Joe Flizzow heads to MTV

KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning hip-hop singer and rapper Joe Flizzow is seeking the support from fellow Malaysians to vote for him following his nomination for Best Southeast Asian Act at the upcoming 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards on Nov 4 at Bizkaia Arena in Barakaldo, near Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain.

The 39-year-old artiste whose music career spans more than 20 years, is putting his hopes high to become the first Malaysian artiste to win the trophy.

“This nomination means a lot to me and my struggles in elevating the hip-hop genre in Malaysia. This is an achievement of sorts, as it also proves that Malaysia’s hip-hop music is finally being recognised globally,” he said in a news report yesterday.

“I hope to return home with the trophy. The win is not for me alone, but it will be my gift to the Malaysian music scene.”

“Seeing that there has been no Malaysian artiste winning the award till now, I hope to be the first,” he added.

Joe who will soon fly to Spain for the awards show, is leaving it entirely to fate. “Whatever it is, it depends on rezeki. I am hoping all Malaysians will come together to root and vote for me.

In the category, Joe is up against Indonesian crooner Afgan, IV of Spades from the Philippines, Min Hang from Vietnam, Singapore’s The Sam Willows and two acts from Thailand — Slot Machine and Twopee Southside.

This year, American singer Camila Cabello dominates the awards nominations with six, followed by Ariana Grande and Post Malone with five each.
