#Showbiz: Solo debut for BlackPink's Jennie?

KUALA LUMPUR: Fast-rising K-Pop sensation BlackPink has been making its mark in the music scene since its debut in 2016.

With four No. 1 singles on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart, the female South Korean group is apparently preparing to hold its first ever series of solo concerts in Seoul next month.

If that’s not enough, one of the quartet’s members, Jennie, has also been reported to be currently prepping to release her first solo album, due to drop sometime next month as well.

According to Soompi, news outlet Sports Donga had shared the good news saying that the idol had filmed a music video for her debut title track while she was in Europe recently.

It was also revealed that she was working on other content and that the group’s label, YG Entertainment, would be finalising the release schedule soon.

Jennie is the main rapper and vocalist of the group, known for her onstage charisma and distinct fashion sense.

Aside from her, BlackPink is made up of Jisoo, Rose and Lisa.

The award-winning band has been steadily gaining success with their various songs, starting off on a good footing with earlier hit singles like Whistle and Boombayah.

Last year in June, BlackPink released its Korean debut EP, Square Up, which topped the Billboard World Albums chart.

The successful release also contained the ultra-popular hit single Ddu-Du Ddu-Du, which quickly peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart.

In addition to that, BlackPink has collaborated with English singer-songwriter, Dua Lipa, on an upcoming song, Kiss And Make Up.
