#Showbiz: Dr Siti Hasmah dedicates violin performance to fireman Adib

KUALA LUMPUR: As Malaysians mourn the tragic death of Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim yesterday, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali has chosen to pay tribute to the fireman in her performance at Istana Budaya on Saturday.

Her violin performance at Konsert Duo Legenda, Istana Budaya will be dedicated to the memory of Muhammad Adib who succumbed to injuries sustained after being attacked by rioters during an incident at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya on Nov 27.

Adib, who was attached to the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue station, died at the National Heart Institute in Jalan Tun Razak at 9.41pm yesterday.

In the two-hour concert, headlined by music legends Datuk M. Nasir and Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Dr Siti Hasmah will play three traditional pop songs on her violin — "Gubahanku, Kau Laksana Bulan and Fatwa Pujangga.

In a news report today, Dr Siti Hasmah said she was moved to tears by the tragic death of the 24-year-old fireman who spent three weeks fighting for his life in hospital.

“My performance is specially for this brave man. I’m too distraught to talk about him,” she added.

In the four-night concert which begins on Thursday, Jamal and Nasir will serenade fans with a collection of their greatest hits.

The duo will be joined by Australian singer Cassidy Anderson and Dr Siti Hasmah will play the violin to accompany their duets.

Dr Siti Hasmah will appear on the third night of the concert, which is the VVIP charity night.
