KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actor and producer Datuk Rosyam Nor has slammed certain individuals for calling him “barua Cina” (Chinese stooge), owing to his minority shareholdings in ST Rosyam Mart supermarket, Taman Setiwangsa.
The KL Special Force star said he was able to take various insults from Netizens, but “barua” was plain nasty.
“Yes, I own 10 per cent shares in the supermarket, I never said it was fully mine, and neither did I say I was the ambassador," he said in a news report today.
“I don’t care if others say I’m not the owner of ST Rosyam Mart, but to call me a stooge of Chinese businessmen is too much. My family and I have been deeply hurt by this.”
Rosyam said the supermarket was his joint venture with the Sri Ternak Group, and it was part of his mission to provide affordable provisions and foodstuffs to Malay and Bumiputera consumers.
ST Rosyam Mart, which is opened 24 hours, is co-owned by Rosyam, Sri Ternak director Datuk Raymond Ho and his brother Alan Ho.
Opened middle of last year, Rosyam, 52, also said that he recently made a police report against a Netizen known as Mohd Fauzi who hurled racial abuse against him.
Mohd Fauzi also accused Raymond’s father, Ho Ah Chai, of being a drug dealer.
“The Ho family has been managing provision shops and supermarkets for 70 years, and this is the first time they’ve been subjected to such mean accusations.”
