#Showbiz: Ed Sheeran's KL concert tickets resold at inflated prices

KUALA LUMPUR: Over 30,000 tickets to British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran’s upcoming Divide World Tour 2019 KL concert at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on April 13 have been snapped up since sales of tickets began on Jan 15.

According to concert promoter PR Worldwide, tickets to the 24-year-old artiste’ upcoming concert here, had been resold at up to three times more from the original value on secondary online reselling platforms such as Viagogo, Syubhub, Shopee, Carousell, Lazada, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Mudah, 11Street and other non-authorised ticket sellers.

PR Worldwide has condemned ticket buyers who have deliberately ignored the terms and conditions of purchase and are now reselling those tickets at inflated prices, which is considered an illegal act.

“People are taking advantage of these reselling platforms and we have found that more and more fake tickets are also being sold; tickets with fake barcodes and ones with seats that don’t even exist at the venue,” said PR Worldwide managing director, Paramananthan Rajagopal, in a recent statement.

He added: “We would like to remind ticket buyers again that Ed and his team have a strict stance against anyone using unethical secondary ticketing sites. In order to put a stop to the secondary ticketing market, absurd prices and fan rip-offs, the tickets are sold personalised, which means that the name of the ticket purchaser is printed on the tickets.”

Paramananthan explained that upon arrival, a purchaser may be required to provide a valid photo ID that matches the name on the ticket(s) to gain admission.

“We urge all customers to refrain from buying tickets from any other website except for www.prworldwidelive.com or www.myticket.asia,” he said.

The promoter’s office is accepting fan request to be placed on a waitlist for any ticket category that may currently not be available and fans will be contacted if and when such tickets become available.

He added that for now, standing pen tickets are still available for purchase via the official ticketing website or by calling 03-74933010.
