PETALING JAYA: British singer-songwriter Calum Scott expressed admiration for the traditional Malay gendang after watching a group of drummers perform at Sri Pentas today.
He was there as a guest on FlyFM’s morning show.
“So much precision. The drummer in me couldn’t be contained at this point...,” he captioned in his Instastory videos of the musicians.
“I was massively impressed by that because I don’t get to see that back home,” said the former Britain’s Got Talent 2015 contestant here today.
Scott, 30, who is in town for the first time to perform an intimate showcase at the Sheraton hotel last night gushed about how much he had enjoyed local food.
“So far, I’ve had satay, nasi lemak and char kuey teow. I love it so much, I think I’m going to have them again tomorrow!
“It’s always great to be able to travel, meet people and be immersed in different cultures.
“What I love about Malaysia is how warm and welcoming the people are.”
The “You Are The Reason” hitmaker joins a growing list of international celebrities who have shown their love for K-Pop music, especially for BTS and BlackPink.
He said it would be “insane and really cool” to collaborate with BTS and BlackPink.
“I love K-pop! These guys (BTS and BlackPink) are doing incredible things all around the world.
If I get to work with them one day, that would be an absolute privilege.”
Scott will be making an appearance tonight at the E! Samsung Galaxy party in Kuala Lumpur.
