#Showbiz: Comedian freed on police bail

SEREMBAN: A local comedian who allegedly kicked and punched a security guard at Taman Acacia, Nilai, near here, two nights ago, is out on police bail.

Nilai district police chief Supt Mohd Nor Marzukee Besar said the order was issued by the court after police requested for a remand order this morning.

"We (police) took the man to the court to obtain a remand order but the court ordered for him to be released on bail.

"However, we are still continuing with our investigation," he said when contacted by Berita Harian today.

The comedian who was wearing a blue shirt was taken to the Seremban Court Complex in a police truck along with other detainees at 8.30am today.

He was then taken to the Special Remand court.

Previously, he was detained at the Nilai district police headquarters when he presented himself to have his statement recorded at 5pm yesterday.

Mohd Nor Marzukee said in the 8pm incident on Saturday, the comedian who was driving a Proton Perdana entered a residential area without permission after tailing another vehicle belonging to a resident.

"The security guard then closed the barrier and chased after him. A few minutes later, the driver wanted to leave but couldn't because the barrier was down.

"The man then got out of his vehicle and an argument took place after which he punched the victim in the face three times, he also kicked the victim in the waist and threw stones," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 323 and 427 of the Penal Code.
