#Showbiz: 'A brief moment of happiness, but I'm single again' - A. Aida

KUALA LUMPUR: The July 21, 2018 marriage of TV drama producer Datuk A. Aida and actor Ariff Aziz is over.

Aida, 49, broke the news at a press conference in Concorde Hotel, Jalan Sultan Ismail today.

“It was a brief moment of happiness, but now I’m single again,” said Aida whose real name is Zaidah Awang.

In the press conference, where she was accompanied by her lawyer Zulkifli Che Yong, Aida admitted that her marriage to Ariff ended on April 24.

Netizens had feared for the worst after noticing that both Aida and Ariff, 30, had erased photos of themselves together in their social media accounts since April.

Aida said the divorce proceedings took place at the Gombak Timur Syariah Lower Court and Ariff divorced her with one “talak”.

“Marriage is in God’s hands. All of us want to have a long-lasting marriage but ultimately God knows best,” said Aida, adding that she was glad they agreed to end the marriage amicably.

Aida refused to reveal the cause of their divorce, and said she was happy to be “solo” again.

“I have accepted my fate. but I want to advice all spouses-to-be, to know your partner better before agreeing to tie the knot.”

Aida also said she was aware that Ariff was once married, and heard about it three days before their marriage.

“I was shocked to hear about that, but nevertheless went ahead with the marriage, because it did not matter to both of us.”

Aida and Ariff, 30, were married in Dorsett Grand Hotel, Subang Jaya. Their marriage was originally scheduled for her 48th birthday on April 20 last year, but was postponed.

“We chose to marry first, and build our love later, to avoid ‘maksiat’ (immoral acts),” she said.

Aida was previously married to singer Ameng of Spring from 1994 to 2003. They have two daughters aged 22 and 17.

She was also married to two policemen, and has a 10-year-old son from her third husband.
