#Showbiz: Halil Chik rushed to hosiptal due to stroke

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular 1970s singer Halil Chik has been admitted to Ampang Hospital following a stroke while at his home in Bukit Antarabangsa here yesterday.

According to his friend Datuk Tommie Tumiran, he rushed to the 70-year-old artiste’s house after being informed by Halil’s children that their father had fallen off his bed and was been in grave condition.

“I was shocked when informed that he could not even move or stand up on his own following the fall.

“And since he does not have a car, I went to his house with another friend to take him to the hospital,” shared Tommie of the singer of the songs Lenggang Mak Limah, Joget Bunga Melati and Renungan Matamu.

Halil was initially placed at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but after doctors found that there was no case of haemorrhaging, he was later transferred to the regular ward.

Tommie added that the doctors’ found that Halil’s blood pressure was more than 200 mmol/L but his condition had improved.

He said the veteran artiste was still weak and he had difficulty speaking.

Earlier last month, Halil was rushed to a hospital after he collapsed.

Tommie said he always reminded Halil to watch what he eats and keep tab on his health, seeing that he has gout and hypertension.
