#Showbiz: 'Boboiboy 2' collects RM25mil, overtakes 'Polis Evo 2'

KUALA LUMPUR: Pre-teen superhero Boboiboy has unleashed his powers in the local box office, to overtake Polis Evo 2 as the fifth best-selling Malaysian film.

Boboiboy Movie 2 producer Astro Shaw said on Instagram yesterday that the animated film which opened on Aug 15 collected RM25 million within three weeks, and beat last year’s action adventure Polis Evo 2 which took home RM20 million.

“Boboiboy Movie 2 has RM25 million! A million thank yous for your endless support! It is still going strong and showing in 141 cinemas for the third week. Experience the phenomenon now!” said Astro Shaw.

At the moment, Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal is the best-selling animated film with RM26 million at the box office. It was screened last March.

Boboiboy Movie 2 is just RM1 million behind, and is likely to dethrone Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal soon.

Munafik 2, screened last year, is the best-selling local movie with RM37.78 million at the box office, followed by Hantu Kak Limah (2018) with RM36 million, Paskal The Movie (2018) with RM30 million, Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal and Boboiboy Movie 2.
